Refine Your Nose Without Losing What Makes You You

A personalized approach focused on natural balance, breathing, and results that still feel like you.

Dr. Kaufman and his office have changed my life in ways that I did not think were possible. His excellent communication skills were both very professional and extremely reassuring. Going through any surgery is an extremely vulnerable and stressful time as outcomes are not 100% predictable, but I truly trusted Dr. Kaufman. At first, I was not sure about going forward with the idea of my septo/rhinoplasty but after my initial consultation, I knew I made the right decision of going to Dr. Kaufman as he came across as completely confident in himself and made sure to make me feel safe and calm going into my procedure. He made sure I was satisfied with my results and answered every single question I had pre and post operation. I am forever grateful to have found Dr. Kaufman!

Rhinoplasty Is a Personal Decision

For many people, rhinoplasty is not about changing who they are. It is about feeling more aligned with how they look and how they feel.

Whether your concerns are cosmetic, functional, or both, the right approach starts with understanding your goals, your anatomy, and what matters most to you. From there, the focus is on balance, proportion, and results that still feel like you.

You May Be Considering Rhinoplasty If

  • Your nose feels out of balance with the rest of your features
  • You want refinement without an obvious surgical look
  • Breathing through your nose has become difficult or uncomfortable
  • A previous injury or surgery left you dissatisfied
  • You are seeking subtle improvement, not perfection

A consultation helps determine whether rhinoplasty is appropriate and what approach makes the most sense for you.

An Approach Focused on Balance, Not Trends

No two faces are the same. That is why rhinoplasty should never follow a template.

Our approach emphasizes careful planning, subtle refinement, and long-term outcomes. Each surgical plan is tailored to your facial structure, nasal function, and aesthetic goals, with the intention of creating harmony rather than drawing attention.

Natural Results Begin With Individual Planning

What the Rhinoplasty Process Looks Like

Consultation and Surgical Planning

01

Your consultation is focused on understanding what is bothering you and why. This includes a discussion of appearance, breathing, and any prior nasal injury or surgery.

Your surgeon will evaluate your nasal structure, skin thickness, and facial proportions. You will talk through what can realistically be changed, what should be preserved, and how different approaches may affect both appearance and function.

This is also when questions about recovery, timing, and expectations are addressed so you can make an informed decision.

The Procedure

02

Rhinoplasty is performed using techniques selected based on your anatomy and goals. This may involve refining bone, cartilage, or both, and in some cases addressing internal structures that affect breathing.

Procedures are typically performed under anesthesia in an accredited surgical setting. Depending on the plan, an open or closed approach may be used, with incisions placed to heal discreetly.

The focus throughout surgery is balance, stability, and long-term outcome rather than aggressive change.

Early Recovery

03

After surgery, a nasal splint is usually placed to protect and support the new structure during initial healing. Some swelling and congestion are expected at this stage.

Most patients return home the same day and are able to resume light daily activities within one to two weeks. Detailed aftercare instructions are provided to support healing and comfort.

Follow-up visits allow your surgeon to monitor progress and address any concerns as you recover.

Healing and Results Over Time

04
As swelling gradually subsides, the nose continues to refine. While early changes are noticeable within weeks, final results develop over several months as tissues settle.

The goal is a result that looks natural not just immediately after surgery, but as your face moves, ages, and expresses emotion over time.

A Thoughtful Approach to a Complex Procedure

Rhinoplasty requires careful judgment. Small changes can have a lasting effect on both appearance and function, which is why the process matters as much as the outcome.

Every recommendation is made with restraint and intention. The goal is not to chase trends or dramatic change, but to create a result that feels balanced, stable, and appropriate for your face over time.

This approach prioritizes listening, clear explanation, and honesty about what is achievable so you can move forward with confidence.

Closed Rhinoplasty: What It Means for You

In many cases, rhinoplasty can be performed using a closed technique, with all incisions placed inside the nose. This approach avoids visible scarring and allows for refined changes to both appearance and breathing.

Closed rhinoplasty is not the right approach for every patient. Your anatomy, goals, and the nature of the changes you want will determine whether it is a good option.

When appropriate, this technique supports natural-looking results and a smoother early recovery. We have extensive experience offering both cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty using this approach.

Insurance & Financing

The Plastic Surgery Center accepts a wide range of insurance plans, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna.

If your procedure is being performed to correct a functional issue, such as breathing difficulties or reconstructive needs, insurance may cover part or all of the cost. However, cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. Our team will work closely with you and your health insurer to obtain any necessary approvals for covered surgical procedures.

Financing options and payment plans are also available through trusted third-party healthcare financing partners.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is closed rhinoplasty preferred over open rhinoplasty?

There are several advantages to closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty uses a small incision across the columella (between the nostrils). Closed rhinoplasty hides all incisions inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scar and usually leading to less swelling and faster recovery. Closed rhinoplasty is more likely to provide permanent results, whereas with open rhinoplasty, the results may change over time.

Will my nose look fake or overdone?

No. Our approach is grounded in subtlety and natural aesthetics. Your results will enhance your existing features, not alter your identity. We aim for balance and harmony, not trends.

Is rhinoplasty only for cosmetic reasons?

Not at all. Many patients seek rhinoplasty to correct structural problems like a deviated septum, past trauma, or chronic nasal obstruction. These functional concerns can often be addressed during the same procedure.

What’s the recovery like?

Most patients return to non-strenuous work or school within 7–10 days. Bruising and swelling are common initially, but will fade. Swelling can take several months to fully resolve, especially in the nasal tip.

Am I a good candidate for rhinoplasty?

Ideal candidates are in good overall health, have realistic expectations, and are seeking either functional improvement, cosmetic refinement, or both. We’ll assess your facial anatomy and goals during your consultation.

How long do results last?

Rhinoplasty results are considered permanent, though your nose will continue to age naturally. Most patients enjoy long-term satisfaction with their appearance and breathing improvements.

What’s the risk of needing a revision?

Revision rates for rhinoplasty should be less than 3% or less in skilled hands. In the rare case requiring a revision, we will make every effort to correct any unresolved issues. Our team is skilled in performing revision surgery for patients seeking correction after primary rhinoplasty performed elsewhere.

When will I see my final results?

You’ll notice a difference as swelling subsides over the first few weeks. However, the final refined contour of your nose may take up to 12 months to fully emerge.

Can I combine rhinoplasty with other procedures?

Yes. Many patients combine rhinoplasty with chin augmentation, eyelid surgery, or facial fat grafting to enhance overall facial balance. We’ll guide you through the best approach during your consultation.
