Before Surgery

Your experience begins with a personalized consultation. We’ll discuss your aesthetic goals, review your nasal and facial anatomy, and determine if any breathing or structural issues need to be addressed. Virtual imaging and clinical photography may be used to develop a customized surgical plan.

You’ll also receive clear pre-operative instructions to help you prepare mentally and physically for the procedure.

During Surgery

Rhinoplasty is typically performed under general anesthesia and takes approximately 2–3 hours. Our surgeons generally prefer a closed technique for less swelling and scarring. If needed, internal nasal structures like a deviated septum will be corrected at the same time to improve breathing.

You’ll return home the same day with a protective splint and detailed recovery instructions.

After Surgery

Expect some swelling and bruising around the eyes and nose for 7–10 days. Most patients return to non-strenuous work and social activity within 1–2 weeks. Because closed rhinoplasty typically causes less swelling, many patients find their recovery more comfortable and see definition sooner. Breathing may feel different during early healing stages, but this improves quickly. Your final nasal contours will gradually refine over several months, and results are designed to be long-lasting and natural.

Insurance & Financing

The Plastic Surgery Center accepts a wide range of insurance plans, including Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Aetna.

If your procedure is being performed to correct a functional issue, such as breathing difficulties or reconstructive needs, insurance may cover part or all of the cost. However, cosmetic procedures are not covered by insurance. Our team will work closely with you and your health insurer to obtain any necessary approvals for covered surgical procedures.

Why is closed rhinoplasty preferred over open rhinoplasty?

There are several advantages to closed rhinoplasty. Open rhinoplasty uses a small incision across the columella (between the nostrils). Closed rhinoplasty hides all incisions inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scar and usually leading to less swelling and faster recovery. Closed rhinoplasty is more likely to provide permanent results, whereas with open rhinoplasty, the results may change over time.

Will my nose look fake or overdone?

Is rhinoplasty only for cosmetic reasons?

What’s the recovery like?

Most patients return to non-strenuous work or school within 7–10 days. Bruising and swelling are common initially, but will fade. Swelling can take several months to fully resolve, especially in the nasal tip.

How long do results last?

What’s the risk of needing a revision?

Revision rates for rhinoplasty should be less than 3% or less in skilled hands. In the rare case requiring a revision, we will make every effort to correct any unresolved issues. When will I see my final results?

You’ll notice a difference as swelling subsides over the first few weeks. However, the final refined contour of your nose may take up to 12 months to fully emerge.

Can I combine rhinoplasty with other procedures?

Yes. Many patients combine rhinoplasty with chin augmentation, eyelid surgery, or facial fat grafting to enhance overall facial balance. We’ll guide you through the best approach during your consultation.
