What Types of Skin Concerns Do We Treat?
Skin issues can occur anywhere on the body and may be caused by various conditions. You might have a mole or skin tag you’ve always wanted removed, a lipoma or cyst that has grown over time, or a visible scar you want to minimize. We offer several options to remove or improve the appearance of many types of skin concerns, including:
- Lipoma removal: Lipomas are fatty tumors that can form deposits under the skin, which we are often able to remove through excision.
- Keloid treatment: Keloids are overgrown scar tissue that can be flattened and softened using steroid injections, surgical removal, laser therapy or other techniques to improve appearance.
- Sebaceous cyst removal: Cysts containing trapped keratin and skin oils can be excised.
- Ganglion cyst drainage: Fluid-filled lumps on joints and tendons can be aspirated or surgically removed.
- Scar revision: Scars from previous injuries/surgeries that are raised, uneven, or cosmetically unappealing can be surgically revised or plumped with dermal fillers to become flush with surrounding skin.
- Mole/skin tag excision: Benign surface bumps can be removed if they are bothersome, prone to irritation, or of cosmetic concern.
Using a variety of surgical and minimally invasive techniques, the experienced surgeons at The Plastic Surgery Center can help restore your appearance and confidence.
What to
Expect with
Minor
Cosmetic Procedures
Considering a minor cosmetic procedure to address your beauty and health concerns? Though your experience will depend on what you have done, you can expect the following:
Consultation: You'll discuss your concerns and goals with our team so we can determine the best treatment plan together.
Preparation: You may need to avoid certain medications/supplements before your procedure.
Anesthesia: Minor procedures usually use only local numbing medication. You remain awake and comfortable.
Treatment: This depends on the procedure but may involve injections, small incisions, laser/light treatments, peels, or more. Minor cosmetic procedures are usually quick, taking less than an hour.
Recovery: There is generally minimal downtime with minor cosmetic treatments. You may have some redness, swelling, bruising, or tenderness for 1-2 days. Most people can resume normal activities right after.
Follow-up: Results improve over several weeks/months as your swelling subsides. We will follow up to determine if touch-up treatments are needed.

Frequently Asked Questions About Minor Cosmetic Surgery
Common procedures include shave excision, cryosurgery freezing, and cauterization/burning off lesions. Lasers may also be used.
Minimal wound care is needed. Treated areas may have scabbing, swelling, or redness for 1-2 weeks as they heal. Most patients are able to go back to normal activities right away.
Procedures are designed to minimize scarring, but some slight mark may remain. Lasers typically cause the least scarring. Location impacts how visible any mark is.
Following wound care instructions, using scar creams, avoiding sun, and skin resurfacing procedures can help reduce the appearance of any scarring.
Side effects may include bleeding, pain, infection, slow wound healing, and scarring or discoloration of the treated area. Risks are low with proper aftercare.
