How Earlobe Repair Surgery Works

Earlobe repair is a simple, in-office procedure performed under local anesthesia. It typically takes less than one hour.

During the treatment, your surgeon carefully trims and reshapes the damaged tissue, then sutures it with precise techniques to restore a smooth, natural contour.

Earlobe repair surgery achieves:

  • A natural, balanced earlobe shape
  • Damage correction from tears, stretching, or aging
  • The ability to re-pierce once healed

Frequently Asked Questions

Is earlobe repair a painful procedure?
Most patients are pleasantly surprised by how comfortable the procedure is. It’s performed under local anesthesia, so you’ll feel little to no pain during the repair. Mild soreness afterward is common but easily managed with over-the-counter medication.
How long does the procedure take?
Earlobe repair is a quick, in-office treatment that typically takes 20-40 minutes, depending on the extent of the damage. You’ll be able to return home the same day.
What is recovery like?
Recovery is usually smooth and straightforward. Most patients return to normal activities right away, with only mild swelling or tenderness for a few days, and stitches are often removed within a week.
Will there be visible scars?
Our surgeons use meticulous, fine suturing techniques to minimize scarring. Most patients find that any marks fade significantly over time and are barely noticeable once healed.
Can I wear earrings again after surgery?
Yes! Once your earlobes have fully healed, typically about 6 to 8 weeks after surgery, you can safely re-pierce your ears if you wish.
Is earlobe repair permanent?
Yes, the results are typically long-lasting. However, it’s important to care for your ears properly and avoid heavy earrings or trauma to prevent future damage.
Can earlobe repair be combined with other procedures?
Absolutely. Many patients pair earlobe repair with other facial rejuvenation treatments, such as fillers or facelift procedures, for a more comprehensive refresh.
